Once you complete your LASIK procedure, your short road to a full recovery begins. There are a few things you will need to do to ensure that your eyes heal properly. Our physicians at OCC LASIK will be sure to equip you with the knowledge you need so you will be well on your way to outstanding, prescription-free vision.
What You Will Feel
It is common after your procedure to feel discomfort. Our doctors will give you eye drops that can help alleviate your symptoms and make a recommendation for over-the-counter medication options as well. You might notice that your eyes are a little dry too. Other common, immediate side effects include:
- Sensitivity to light
- Seeing glares or halos around lights
- Have reddish or bloodshot eyes
These symptoms should improve within just a day or two after your surgery, and you will start noticing improvements in your vision almost immediately.
Following Up
It is essential that you make and keep your follow-up appointments with our offices. We will either schedule an appointment for later on the same day of your surgery or within the next day or two. The doctor who performed your surgery will examine your eyes, removing any shields that were placed over them. You may receive more eye drops at this time to prevent infection or inflammation, or we may advise you to use some type of artificial tears.
We will also want to see you at regular intervals following your surgery. Typically, we will schedule appointments for:
- One day after your surgery
- One week after your surgery
- One month after your surgery
- Three months after your surgery
- Your one-year anniversary with your new eyes
With our advanced LASIK system, you can typically return to work within just a day or two of your procedure, so long as you have been resting and using any eye drops as prescribed. We at OCC LASIK are excited to help you see the world clearly and will do everything to ensure you have a safe and speedy recovery.
