Dr. Fareed Ali is the director and primary qualified investigator at the Canadian Centre for Advanced Eye Therapeutics Inc. He has been directing clinical research studies regulated by FDA and Health Canada at CCAET as a primary investigator for 20+ years performing all procedures and assessments required by trials. Dr. Ali’s experience also extends to his clinical focus on age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, diabetic retinopathy, macular holes, macular edema, and all laser LASIK surgery.
He is a practicing ophthalmologist who completed his medical training and residency at the University of Toronto. He holds a fellowship in retinal diseases from Harvard Medical School. He led the retinal disease division at OCCeyecare to perform the first ever intraocular injections of the anti-VEGF Avastin and Lucentis in Canada. He was also the innovator behind the development of Micropulse Laser Technology, a safer treatment option for patients with dry AMD and central serous retinopathy.
Dr. Narendra Armogan is the Sub-Investigator at the Canadian Centre for Advanced Eye Therapeutics Inc. He has 20+ years of experience in conducting clinical research studies as an investigator performing all injections and procedures at CCAET. He has been awarded the prestigious Scientific Award of Excellence by the American Retina Foundation (2006) for stem cell transplants in retinal diseases. His pioneering work in Retinal Cell Transplants, a novel therapy used in patients with dry AMD, has defined the standard of excellence for CCAET and has received significant international scientific recognition.
Dr. Armogan has also been responsible for many surgical firsts in retina and cataract management. They include groundbreaking surgeries such as the first radial optic neurotomy, anti-VEGF therapy and multifocal lens implantation by a retinal surgeon in Canada.
Dr. Armogan also has vast clinical experience in cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, macular holes, neovascular glaucoma, and macula edema. His surgical focus includes cataract surgery, vitrectomy surgery, retinal surgery, anterior segment surgery, posterior segment surgery, and of course, all laser LASIK vision correction surgery.
Nancy Davis is the Senior Clinical Research Associate/ Manager at the Canadian Centre for Advanced Eye Therapeutics Inc with 20+ years of experience in managing Clinical research studies.
Nancy Davis completed her Clinical Research Associate graduate program at McMaster University. She is IATA and an Ontario Society of medical lab technologists certified Medical Lab Technician.
Faiza Khawaja is a Clinical Research Associate at the Canadian Centre for Advanced Eye Therapeutics Inc, where she has been working for more than 15 years in this field. She holds a Post-Graduate Clinical Research Program certificate from Harvard Medical School, where she was also awarded the Clinical Research Scholar Award. In addition, she has a Graduate Clinical Research Program certificate from The Michener Institute of the University of Health Network, as well as a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology.
Faiza is a certified Clinical Research Professional by the Society of Clinical Research Professionals and a certified Medical Lab Technician by the Canadian Society of Medical Lab Sciences. Furthermore, she has obtained various certifications in studies such as BCVA, Refraction, Goldman IOP, OCT, FP, and FA procedures.
Clinical Research is Faiza’s passion, and she is actively involved in numerous clinical research-teaching activities. She is a course developer and Instructor of the Clinical Research Certificate Program at the Michener Institute of Education at the University of Health Network, Toronto as well as a Senior Clinical Research Teaching Assistant at Harvard Medical School, Boston. She has contributed to the writing of a textbook titled “Critical Thinking in Clinical Research” for the Clinical Research Post-Graduate Program at Harvard University.
