Even after having LASIK, there are plenty of things you can do to protect your eyes. Just because your eyesight is top notch doesn’t mean you don’t have to take preventative measures from one of this spring’s greatest assailants – the sun! Here are a few ways to protect your eyes from the sun:
Sunglasses
Do you often find yourself choosing the cheaper sunglasses from your favourite chain store as opposed to investing in expensive, quality lenses? You could be putting your eyes at risk! Having quality lenses is vital in protecting your eyes from the sun! If you know you’re going to be out in the sun, whether for a short or long period of time, make sure you are wearing high quality sunglasses. UV light from the sun damages the retinas and good, quality lenses will help to eliminate UV rays completely.
Wear a Hat
Wear a hat! Wearing a wide brim hat or a hat with at least 3 inches around the entire perimeter can also be a very effective method in protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays.
Stay in the Shade
Finally, seek out shade whenever you can. While everyone likes to work on their tan, your health is much more important!
