What Is Astigmatism?
Astigmatism is a common refractive error which affects how the eye focuses light. It is caused by an irregularly shaped cornea – instead of the usual round shape, it is shaped more like an oval.

How Do I Know If I Have Astigmatism?
Symptoms can include:
- Headaches
- Squinting
- Blurry or distorted vision
- Eye strain
- Difficulty seeing at night
It is very important to schedule a regular eye exam so your eye doctor can check for the possibility of astigmatism.
How Can It Be Cured?
If you’ve been diagnosed with astigmatism, consider refractive surgery such as LASIK. This procedure uses a precision laser to reshape the cornea to a regular, rounded shape.
